Guisborough will make history if they claim four points from their last game of the season against Darlington RA at Brinkburn Road today.
No club has won the top division of the Darlington Building Society NYSD League for four consecutive seasons but barring a shock, Guisborough will celebrate tonight.
Guisborough achieved the feat between 1909-12 and Darlington emulated their rivals during 1920-23, but no side has equalled those performances for 81 years.
Fixture secretary Gary Bolton said: "We will take nothing for granted at RA. We well remember that in 2002 RA played Darlington at Feethams on the last day of the season.
"Darlington needed just seven points to clinch the title but failed when RA ran out comfortable winners and we ended at the top.''
"The game brings back memories of our championship success in 1996 when we needed 14 points against them to be certain
"We only obtained 13 and it was another half an hour before we heard that Normanby Hall had failed to beat Marske."
A blow for Guisborough today is the unavailability of professional Imran Jan who has returned to the West Indies. Graham Murray is also absent and the pair are replaced by Will Wyatt and Ryan Murray.
Bishop Auckland can only hope to beat Hartlepool at Park Drive and for Guisborough to slip up, but director of cricket Paul Furby claims it will take a miracle for them to end in pole position.
"Let's face it, Guisborough are in a great position. For us to succeed, we have first of all to beat Hartlepool and then for Guisborough to take less than four points from their match. Even if they get beat the likelihood is that they will still pick up four points," claimed Furby.
Hartlepool anticipate John Cannon and Dean Burrows playing in the last fixture with youngsters Alan Tebbett and Peter Rhoden making way.
Northallerton, who have led the table on a number of occasions, are playing for third place. They sign off at Redcar where Jonathan Barnes could complete another outstanding season by claiming his 100th wicket.
Ian Place and John Sample are missing while Redcar name Robbie Whelan for Shaun McGarry.
Evenwood will be crowned champions of The Readers Durham County League for a third consecutive season if they beat Ushaw Moor in their final game.
Skipper Paul Watson is pleased with his first season in charge but although the club has won the League Cup he reckons it will count for nothing if they fail at the final hurdle.
"Obviously, it was good to lift the cup but the big prize is the title and it is down to us. We are nine points in front of Kimblesworth and for the second successive season the race has gone right to the wire," exclaimed Watson.
Kimblesworth captain Michael Fishwick is realistic about his side's chance: "Evenwood are in command and all we can do is try and beat Shildon and hope that they fail."
After winning for only the second time last week, improving Shildon are without Stuart Henderson, Christopher Lye and Stephen Foster.
Tynedale will become champions of the Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League if they beat Sacriston and gain the maximum 20 points from their penultimate game.
Following last week's shock defeat by Ashington, Tynedale have a 21-points lead over Leadgate with 40 to play for.
Ian Riccalton takes over from Tim Adcock while Sacriston are at full strength with the return of David Metcalfe and Lee Shaw.
Leadgate, second from top for the first time this season, visit Lanchester while Ashington go to Annfield Plain where Durham Academy youngster Ben Harmison will play alongside the returning Simon Prudhoe.
