AN MP has added her voice to criticism of Government cuts in funding for a disability support charity.
The Wilf Ward Family Trust, based in Pickering, receives funding from the nationwide Supporting People programme.
Last week, the Government announced a reduction in the programme's budget. Officials from the charity said the cuts would amount to a £250,000 drop in funding and warned it could mean some services are lost.
Yesterday, Vale of York MP Anne McIntosh said the decision could potentially jeopardise the well-being of disabled people.
She said: "The decision to reduce funding for a charity that provides important care facilities, which enable disabled carers to take an important break from their day-to-day responsibilities, cannot be good news for North Yorkshire."
