MUSIC lovers who attended a concert at an Army barracks helped to raise £1,020 for charity earlier this year.
The concert, held in May at Alanbrooke Barracks, Topcliffe, near Thirsk, was organised by 40th Regiment Royal Artillery (The Lowland Gunners).
It featured the Royal Artillery Band, from Woolwich, pipes and drums, York Philharmonic Choir, Sowerby School Choir and Thirsk School Band.
The proceeds were donated to the chapel of justice and peace at Ripon Cathedral, and the full amount was handed over on Tuesday to the dean, the Very Reverend John Methuen, by the commanding officer of 40th Regiment Royal Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Nugee.
