ENTRIES in the flower classes at Stanhope Agricultural Society's 163rd show, which was held at the weekend, were badly hit by last month's torrential rainfall.
But officials reported a very good entry in the vegetable classes with a variety of stands.
Horticultural trophy winners - Lonsdale Bowl for best stand of cactus dahlias, Steve Hodgson, Fir Tree; K Hodgson Cup for best chrysanthemum, Gordon Dobson, Wolsingham; M C Morgan Cup for best vegetable, Barry Charlton, Peterlee.
Horse and pony - best decorated heavy single horse in cart harness, David Collins; best decorated pair and overall champion, Gavin Holmes; W Stobbs Shield for best ridden coloured pony, Jade Hind; Greenfoot Holiday Homes Shield for coloured horse champion, Carol Howe; Tommy Wilson Trophy for best dales pony, Mr D Urwin; Stanhope Agricultural Society trophy for champion in horse and pony driving, Ken Wilson.
