LOCAL education authorities (LEAs) in the North-East have worked together to develop an online service to meet the region's supply teaching needs.
It is the first time so many LEAs have collaborated to produce a joint supply service.
The North-East Consortium of LEAs is made up of seven councils and helps supply 570 schools regionally.
Darlington, Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Stockton, Sunderland and South Tyneside will launch the online supply pool later this month.
The pool, approved by the leading teacher unions, enables quick matching of temporary vacancies with suitable supply teachers.
For the first time, schools in the area will have access to a pool of local accredited teachers.
Teachers can register to become part of the pool by completing a single online application form or calling 0845 108 1700 at any time.
