A COMMUNITY group will today take delivery of a computer, donated by a leading telecommunications company.
Leadgate Youth Centre, based in Eden Miners Welfare Hall in Watling Street, Leadgate, near Consett, will receive the PC, donated through BT's Community Connections programme.
The organisation, founded in 1982, provides facilities for young people in one of the most deprived districts in County Durham.
Centre treasurer Neil Harris said: "The centre aims to provide growth and personal development opportunities by offering meaningful and interesting activities.
"The BT Community Connections award will address the lack of resources available to the 130 members who use the centre's limited facilities."
The computer will be handed over to centre staff this evening by Neil Smith, BT's North-East communications manager.
Since the scheme was set up four years ago, BT has donated about 3,800 computers to community groups around the country.
