SOLAR panels with the capacity to generate up to 34 kilowatts of electricity have been installed in a council building.
Gateshead Council's £3.5m International Business Centre was fitted with the 36 panels last week.
They will allow the building to generate enough electricity to power its heating and cooling system.
The panels were made by specialist glass manufacturer Romag, at its factory in Leadgate, in County Durham.
The business centre, which is expected to open in the next few months, will offer office accommodation to small businesses and international investors.
