MARK Davies almost swept the board at Durham's Player of the Year awards dinner at the Gosforth Park Hotel last night.
The 23-year-old Teessider walked away with four of the six awards, despite missing the last eight weeks of the season with a side strain.
Davies won Player of the Year, which is voted for by the members, the Northern Echo-sponsored Players' Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the bowling award. The batting award went to Gordon Muchall and the fielding award to Gary Pratt.
Davies was the first bowler in the country to reach 50 championship wickets, being nine clear of the field at the time. But he was injured before he could add to his tally and didn't play again.
He still finished with 22 more wickets than any other Durham bowler and his average of 18.76 also put him well clear. Of those who took more than ten wickets, the next best average belonged to fellow Teessider Liam Plunkett with 33.41.
Muchall topped the batting averages with 970 championship runs at 35.93.
