A DANCE instructor is hoping to teach rough, tough Yorkshire Dales farmers how to jive.
Ian Shakespeare, of York-based Got Rhythm Dance, will start teaching modern jive dancing in Wensleydale, next week.
And the instructor is looking for men more at home in the milking parlour than on the dance floor to take part.
He said: "We usually get plenty of women but we always need more guys.
"I already teach one farmer in York. He's the toughest looking man you are likely to see and I never thought I would get him dancing.
"But eight lessons later and he was away."
Mr Shakespeare says jive dancing is great fun and a great way to meet new people.
"Jive is exciting, passionate and sensual. Many of the moves can be seen in salsa dance, but modern jive is much easier to learn and can be used with most music having a strong beat," he said.
"I decided to come to Wensleydale after talking to friends who live in Leyburn.
"They said there was nothing to do for people aged between 30 and 60."
The first lesson will be held in the Methodist Church Hall next Thursday from 7.30pm. For more details call Mr Shakespeare on (01904) 637907 or 07952 608009.
