Police are appealing for the public's help after a man tried to snatch a 12-year-old boy.
The man pulled up his car alongside the youngster as he walked along Overdale Road, Middlesbrough, at around 8.15pm on Wednesday night.
The motorist asked the child if he would like to get into his car and the boy refused. A man and a woman out walking, overheard the boy's refusal and intervened, at which the man in the black or dark grey coloured estate car drove off towards Ladgate Lane.
Cleveland Police are appealing to the couple and anyone who has information to come forward.
The boy was approached near the Overdale Road junction with Sandringham Road.
Anyone with information should contact Cleveland Police on (01642) 303126.
