HISTORY enthusiasts will launch their latest book next weekend.
Wheatley Hill Local History Club will hold a local history day in the village's Workingmen's Club, in Quilstile Road, on September 25.
The club will launch its second book, The Weardale Coal Company, which operated in the area from 1836 to 1913. The club's first book was about Thornley Coal Company.
Club chairwoman Margaret Hedley said: "The theme of the history day will be the Home Front, and there will be people in 1940s clothing and there will be 1940s food, music and vehicles.''
The event is from 10am to 3pm and admission is £1. The book will be on sale for £10.
