A FOOTPATH leading to a children's play area is to be built near playing fields at Marske.
The aim is to improve wheelchair access to Marske Playing Fields, so that it complies with regulations demanded by the Disability Discrimination Act.
Susan Preston, clerk of Saltburn, Marske and New Marske Parish Council, said: "The improvements are being made near all play areas in the country.
"The land was given to the people of Marske by Lord Zetland and is now owned by the parish council.
"Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has already complied with the regulations at the play area at Cat Flat Lane, in Marske, but we are required to make the changes on the playing fields."
She said it was hoped to start work on the path after a collapsed drain had held up the project.
