A two-year-old girl mown down by a car when it mounted a high street pavement, has died of her injuries, in hospital.
Helen Dass and her partner Kevin Schwec were today said to be "devastated'' by the news of daughter Demi's death.
The toddler was rushed to the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, with serious head injuries, following the incident in Loftus High Street, on September 11.
The little girl had been walking along the footpath with teenage friends when a Civic Honda car mounted the pavement and ploughed into her. A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said yesterday: "Police have spoken to the driver, a 19-year-old youth, and inquiries into the incident are continuing.''
The teenage motorist, who is from Loftus, is thought to have lost control of the car. It mounted the footpath before the collision with the child, near to the junction of the High Street with Chapel Row.
