THEATRE bosses are still in the dark over whether veteran actor Brian Blessed will appear in a North-East production next week.
The 67-year-old film and TV favourite was due to star in The Haunted Hotel, at Darlington Civic Theatre, from Monday.
But he was forced to pull out of the same play in Colchester earlier this week after suffering chest pains.
A Civic Theatre spokeswoman said yesterday it was still not known whether he would be able to appear.
"We will find out on Monday whether he will be joining the tour or not," she said.
"If he can't, an understudy will have to step in, which is not unusual."
Those ringing to buy tickets for the production are being told: "We have been advised that Brian Blessed has been taken ill and been advised to rest. We are waiting to be advised when he will rejoin the tour."
