ONE of the North-East's largest Peugeot dealerships is helping the golf stars of the future throughout the region to reach national competitions.

Romanby Golf Club Juniors, based in Northallerton, have been sponsored by Simon Bailes Peugeot for the last two years and have just been named champions of the Harrogate and District Junior Division.

The accolade represents the pinnacle of an extremely successful season for the team. They have remained unbeaten throughout the year, despite being part of the junior division for only three years. Five of the team, all aged between 14 and 16, are also single-figure handicappers.

Simon Bailes, the company's managing director, said: "When we undertook this sponsorship last year as part of our community support programme, it was intended to enable the team to broaden their horizons and compete further afield.

"The fact that they have used this opportunity to improve their skills and become champions is wonderful news."

Ian James, the teams' co-ordinator, said: "We are all very proud of the team and their achievements to date. If we continue our success into the national, the team will be able to travel to Europe to play, which will be a fantastic opportunity."
