MUSICALLY, Teesside is one of the UK's best-kept secrets.

So says Bruce Findlay, former manager of groups Simple Minds and China Crisis.

He is to address delegates at a four-day In the City music convention in Manchester next week, which will bring together influential players in the UK music industry.

Teesside's music scene, its artists, venues and festivals are to be promoted at the convention by the area's music development organisation, From Teesside with Love.

The particular reception Bruce Findlay will speak to is being hosted by FTwL.

He said: "The passion and talent for making good music in the North-East is the reason I got involved with FTwL. Couple that with the vibrancy and the intimacy of the area's venues and studios, and you have a real recipe for success. I believe it will happen sooner rather than later.''

Paul Burns, FTwL project co-ordinator, said: "In the City gives us the best opportunity to present to the most influential people on the UK's music scene."
