A JOB creation scheme is helping to improve Durham's coastline.
Organisations have come together to set up the Coastal Intermediate Labour Market Programme, which gives long-term jobless people the chance of a year's work and training.
The scheme operates in Blackhall, Horden, Easington Colliery and Easington Village, and has been developed by Groundwork East Dur-ham, Houghall Enterprises, the National Trust and the Durham Heritage Coast Partnership.
Five employees will be based at the National Trust's White Lea Farm, in Easington Colliery, and will work on environmental schemes to improve people's ability to access and enjoy the coastline.
It is hoped employees will have a better chance of permanent jobs.
Employees on the scheme can also take up work placements with companies and organisations.
Three employees are on placement at the Bloomin Marvellous Community Nursery, in Horden.
