A SCHOOL that has been promoting healthy lifestyles for its pupils is celebrating winning an award.
Kelloe Primary School has won the Healthy Schools Awards, which is given for efforts by schools to teach youngsters about the importance of health, fitness, citizenship and personal growth and development.
The award, part of a national Government programme, is given for activities that look at matters such as eating a balanced diet and taking exercise.
The school has 116 pupils aged three to ten and earlier this year took part in a national fundraising event for the Marie Curie Cancer Fund - a bid for a world record for the biggest simultaneous poetry reading.
Pupils also welcomed in the Chinese New Year at the end of January by creating a 50ft dragon and Chinese artwork with visiting Chinese artist Lip Lee.
