A NEW home is needed for a springer spaniel that has dodged death twice recently.
Sadie was saved from a dog pound by Saltburn Animal Rescue Association (Sara) four months ago, only to become trapped during a fire at her foster home.
Pat Smith, who has been looking after four-year-old Sadie and 20 other dogs at her home in Newby Village, near Stokesley, did not realise a fire had broken out in her kitchen until it had taken hold.
She said: "Smoke was billowing through the hall to the lounge. It was terrible.
"We called the fire brigade and did our best to get the dogs out, but Sadie was sitting by the window in the living room, where she likes to be.
"I could not stand the smoke, but my friend, Val Hyde, managed to run in and grab her.
"We thought Sadie was going to die when we got her outside, she was so confused."
Sadie survived and is looking for a new home, along with a beagle cross called Bracken.
Sadie is active, loves walks and is affectionate towards women, but seems wary of men.
Bracken is loving with people, but would prefer to live in a home where he is the only pet.
