PLANS to build three terraced houses on derelict land have been given the go-ahead despite objections.
People in Arthur Street, Crook, told members of Wear Valley District Council's development control committee on Thursday night that the development was too close to their homes.
A spokeswoman for the residents said: "All of the residents stand firmly together, and we are adamant that these houses are not wanted.''
But planning officers recommended approval for the houses saying that the required distance between houses was only a guideline and the land was an eyesore that needed to be tidied up.
The spokeswoman for the residents said the land was only an eyesore because it had not been maintained properly.
