A SCENE from the golden era of British motorcycling will be recreated on the rural roads of the North-East at the weekend.
More than 100 vintage motorcycles, cycle cars, tricycles, micro-cars - all manufactured in 1979 or before - and pre-1941 light cars will take part in the 33rd Beamish Trophy Trial on Sunday.
The event starts at the New Board Inn, Hilltop, Esh, Durham, at 9am, with entrants leaving at 30-second intervals.
The trial will follow its usual route, covering more than 100 miles of Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland.
The event is based on the Travers Trophy Trial of the 1920s and the South Shields MC Trial of 1926.
There are a number of test hills, some of which are untarred. Entrants have to navigate their way around the route using a direction sheet.
The route passes through Stanhope, Westgate, Killhope Lead Mining Museum, Nenthead, Allenheads, Rookhope, Stanhope Dene, Blanchland, Shotley Bridge, Maiden Law and Langley Park, before returning to the starting point.
There are 24 class awards with each entrant receiving a badge and date bar.
