FACTORIES around the country will display posters designed by safety-conscious children.
Children of the 3,500 staff at SCA Packaging were asked to design a safety poster for use in the company's 49 factories nationally.
Nine-year-old Jordan Reid, of Consett, County Durham, whose father works at SCA's plant in Peterlee, won the first prize of £250 with his "Don't be Alien to Health and Safety" poster.
Kate Dixon, also nine from Bishop Auckland, County Durham, was second. Kate, whose father works at SCA in Darlington, won £150.
Tom Heys, North-East director for SCA Packaging, said: "It was great to see the kids from the region responding so positively to the health and safety poster competition.
"Raising safety awareness is high-profile within our business, but what better place to start than in the home and at an early age?
"We are looking forward to displaying the posters in all six of our North-East sites."
