IT may be washed by the tide twice every 24 hours, but Saltburn's beach, popular with day trippers since the age of Queen Victoria, was given a thorough clean-up during the weekend.
Local residents and children volunteered for the chore of a litter pick across the sand, armed with bin sacks and gloves.
Eight-year-old Josh Hudson is pictured, right, taking part in the clean-up.
He is being given a hand during the litter pick by family friends Barry and Caroline Wood, who were accompanied during the clean-up by their own son Cameron, in the baby buggy.
The litter pick at Saltburn's beach has now become an annual event for the community, with old and young alike pitching in to ensure the beach is as clean as possible following the flood of visitors throughout the summer months.
During the off-season, the beach remains well-used by residents of the town.
