A NEW assistant chief constable has been appointed to North Yorkshire Police.
David Collins, 45, has spent the past six months as the force's temporary assistant chief constable.
He was appointed to the permanent post of assistant chief constable (territorial policing) following a restructuring of the senior management team within the force.
He will be responsible for operational policing throughout the county, with a focus on ensuring that the force continues to improve its policing performance.
Mr Collins, who has served as a police officer in Nottinghamshire and West Yorkshire, said: "I am delighted to be able to continue working as assistant chief constable in North Yorkshire Police. This is a very exciting time for the force and despite our increasingly good performance, there is still much to do.
"I look forward to playing my part within the chief constable's team, and I am very proud of being able to continue in the service of all the communities in North Yorkshire and the City of York."
