A FISH and chip shop owner has won his weight in fish after he entered a national competition.
Beedles Chippy, in Church Street, Shildon, County Durham, has been named as the North-East regional winner of a prize draw launched by Frozen-At-Sea Fillets Association for those businesses entered into the Seafish Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Competition.
David Beedle, who has been presented with five boxes of fillets worth about £400, said: "I was absolutely delighted when I found out that we had won and the icing on the cake is that we have just found out that we have been voted in the top five in the region for the Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Competition.
"None of this would be possible without the hard work and commitment from the staff."
