A COMMUNITY organisation has won National Lottery funding to provide adult education courses in two Teesdale villages.
Awards for All has granted £5,000 to Evenwood and Ramshaw Community Association to allow people in Evenwood and Cockfield to take part in Community Learning Opportunities.
The grant will enable Bishop Auckland College to provide taster classes in both communities.
The taster classes will feature subjects including keep fit, first aid and holistic therapies.
If the classes prove successful, longer and accredited courses will be run in each village.
Mary Prince, the secretary of Evenwood and Ramshaw Community Association, said: "We are really pleased to have been given this money. It will allow people in the village to try something new.
"Hopefully, they will be successful and take off, we already run an accredited IT course which is popular."
Posters will be put up around the villages in the next few days to advertise the courses on offer.
