SUPPORTERS of a farming pressure group are planning a sponsored walk for charity.
About 20 members of Farmers for Action, which campaigns to secure a sustainable level of income for farmers and growers, will get up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to tackle the three Yorkshire Peaks.
They will begin with Penyghent, move on to Whernside, and end at Ingleborough, covering about 25 miles.
They hope to raise £2,000 to split between Yorkshire Cancer Research and their own funds.
Yesterday, some of the walkers limbered up at the home of Moira Peckitt, Yorkshire co-ordinator for Farmers for Action, at Carlton Husthwaite, near Thirsk.
She said: "We're hoping the weather will be fine and that we have a good day. The support in sponsorship has been tremendous, particularly from local businesses.
"Our walkers will be all ages, all sizes and all fitnesses, but we're determined to finish, hopefully in time to get back to do the milking!"
Anyone who would like to take part or sponsor the walkers can contact Ms Peckitt on (01845) 501242.
