AN electrician who set up his own business recently is looking to take on more staff as he moves the firm to bigger premises.
Lee White, of School Aycliffe, launched his two companies - Spark Electrical Specialists and Spark Engineering Specialists - after growing tired of working for someone else.
Without any grant aid or financial help, the 29-year-old admits he has found it hard work, but very rewarding, being his own boss.
After a four-year apprenticeship, Mr White worked for seven years with a local company as an electrician before creating his own firm to tackle commercial, industrial and domestic electrical jobs.
His biggest project to date involves the rewiring of the Mardi Gras nightclub in Darlington.
"It has been really hard starting up on my own, but I had to do it because I grew tired of all the restrictions of working for someone else," he said. "It was definitely a positive move."
The companies are trading from premises on Albert Hill, in Darlington, but will be moving to new offices in Maple Way, Newton Aycliffe, by the end of the month.
His wife, and company secretary, Holly, said: "We are really looking forward to the move.
"It is a young, dynamic company and it will be a great new start."
Spark Electrical Specialists is looking to employ three more electricians and three electricians' mates, while Spark Engineering Specialists, which deals in special purpose machine building, is looking to take on about six more employees.
