Nissan announced today that a fifth model will be built at its car plant in Sunderland, a move that safeguards 1,000 jobs.
Speaking at the Paris Motor Show, Nissan Executive Vice President Patrick Pelata told journalists that an as yet unnamed car, based on the 'Tone' concept he was unveiling, would be produced on Wearside from January 2006.

Nissan has invested £125m in the project, with £24m of that going towards preparation at the plant, and its suppliers, for the start of production.
