A CHARITY that supports an Indian orphanage is holding a musical fundraising event.
The Cathleen Home Missionary Charity Group, based at the Evangel Church in Chester-le-Street, has been raising money for the orphanage in northern India for the past three years.
On Tuesday, October 5, between 1pm and 4pm at Pelton Community Centre, it will hold an event featuring club singers Terry Mac and Dan James and a talk by missionary worker Ann Wood.
"We are doing what we can to raise money for them," said organiser Pauline Macchiarelli.
"These kids wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for the orphanage but now they are passing their exams. The poverty is horrible in northern India."
The charity has already raised several thousand pounds and hopes to open a charity shop in the town.
