AN event to promote country crafts, lost arts and local products is to be held in Guisborough.

Guisborough Forest and Walkway is hosting the Natural Harvest Day on Saturday, October 2, from 10am to 5pm.

The day will include craft demonstrations, children's craft activities and other entertainment.

There will be demonstrations from silversmith Imogen Shaftoe, from Newcastle, weaver Pauline Drew, from Glaisdale, and blacksmith David Stephenson, from Pickering.

Chris Wadsworth and his Shire horse will show how horse-logging is done and there will be dry-stone walling presentations by Eddie Rowney, from Stokesley.

Market stalls will sell hand-made goods and local produce and there will be vintage farm machinery on show, music from the Mike Lockey Band and rides on a miniature steam railway.

The event has been organised by the Friends of Guisborough Walkway along with Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's countryside wardens.

Warden Ann Marie Edwards said: "We want to draw attention to the wonderful local craftspeople that we have, show traditional skills that we've forgotten and also have a lot of fun for all the family."
