A GROUP of police officers will take part in the run for charity after a colleague's son underwent lifesaving open heart surgery following a heart attack at birth.
The group of six officers, a former colleague and Cleveland Police support staff are hoping to raise between £3,000 and £3,500 for the Heartlink charity.
The decided to raise the money after Fraud Squad officer Nick Wright's son, Peter, was critically ill.
Peter's mother, Joanne, who is a policewoman, raised £600 for the charity by taking part in the Great North Walk.
The group has thanked Arriva Rental, which gave them transport after their minibus -due to take them to the start of the race -broke down.
