A BOROUGHBRIDGE businesswoman will be doing her bit to fight crime by micro-chipping saddles at Masham auction mart from 10am on Sunday.
Justine Taylor of EC Remedies is taking part in the event organised by PC Gareth Jones, a police officer based at Ripon. It is aimed at horse owners who want to protect their tack from thieves.
EC Remedies is an authorised centre for Saddle-traC, which combines the latest radio frequency identification technology with a powerful database to provide a highly reliable recognition system and enable the creation of the National Saddle Register.
The register holds the saddle description, Saddle-traC number and the legal owner's details. Inclusion comes with the Saddle-traC package and provides the owner with an official registration document as proof of ownership.
Miss Taylor said: "It is an inexpensive way to protect your saddle and dramatically reduces the risk of theft."
She set up her business in July and, when not attending special events, she is mobile, with her business covering all areas of North and West Yorkshire, County Durham, Lancashire and the Lake District.
To book an appointment and have your saddle chipped on the day of the event, you will need to contact PC Jones at Ripon Police Station on 01765 602022.
