MORE than 700 Scouts from around the region will gather this weekend for what is expected to be their biggest ever North-East camp.
The Confido event takes place at Rainton Gate, near Durham City, with Scouts from towns including Barnard Castle, County Durham, and Blyth, Northumberland, gathering for a weekend of activities.
As well as traditional scouting activities, including wood turning, canoeing and climbing, visitors are being offered some 21st Century alternatives, with a virtual camp fire projected on to a large indoor screen, the camp's own radio station and rodeo sheep.
Tonight's highlight is a Monster Glo party in the 200ft events marquee.
Durham's assistant county commissioner for Scouts, Jonathan Chicken, said: "Each year Confido grows and grows. It gives the young people we support the chance to show off the face of 21st Century scouting and the atmosphere on site is electric.
