COMPUTER whizz-kids at a County Durham school are celebrating after getting some of the best GCSE grades in the country.
Jayne Moyle and Andrew Charlton, who attended Sedgefield Community College, have discovered they were in the top five out of 23,199 entrants in this year's GCSE exams in information and communication technology (ICT).
All 66 pupils in the school who took the exam achieved A* to C grades.
The school's ICT teacher, Claire Smith, said: "We haven't got all the figures back yet, but it looks like we're going to be one of the leading colleges in the country for ICT.
"I'm absolutely delighted. Jayne and Andrew were both predicted A*s, but to get two out of the top five in the country was absolutely fantastic.
"It's really quite unusual for one school to get two of the top five students."
Jayne has been invited to London to be presented with a certificate by Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill at an awards ceremony to encourage female students in ICT.
Both now attend Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, and are studying ICT at A-level.
