MP Gerry Steinberg handed over computer equipment to five Durham City schools yesterday.
The MP presented thousands of pounds-worth of equipment, including PCs, laptops, digital microscopes and scanners, donated under the Tesco Computers For Schools scheme.
The schools, which received the equipment after collecting vouchers from the supermarket during the past year, were Coxhoe Primary, St Margaret's Primary, Shincliffe Primary, Kelloe Primary and St Leonard's Comprehensive.
Tesco marketing manager Tim Mason said: "The schools in the area have done particularly well in collecting vouchers this year and collected about £10,000-worth of equipment.
"This will help give a big boost to local schools and that equipment will make a real difference to the children in the area."
