PUB bosses on the outskirts of Darlington are hoping regulars will help them carry out a wildlife survey.
Earlier this year, the Tawny Owl, in Neasham Road, worked with the Wildlife Trust to supply guests with membership forms and local information. They hope to build on that by learning about wildlife around the inn.
Landlord Stuart Mann has had survey forms made up, and he is asking guests to complete entries while travelling to the pub, sitting in the garden, or looking out of the window.
He said: "We would really like to get information on what kind of wildlife is around us, so that we can monitor it in the future and also look for ways in which we can attract new wildlife to the area.
"The surroundings are a real haven for wildlife and I am sure there will be some surprise findings. Hopefully, some people will record quite rare sights."
The survey form, which is available from the pub, has provision for recording birds, butterflies, trees and animals.
All completed surveys will be entered for a draw to win the Wildlife Trust's Wildlife Walks book, which gives details of local and national wildlife-spotting venues.
