A FORMER football manager is helping to spearhead a campaign to drive out ageism.
Age Concern Teesside is launching a campaign to encourage older people in Teesside to stand up for their rights.
Throughout next week - Age Concern Week - older people will be urged to speak out and demand equal treatment in all aspects of everyday life, such as in shops, work and in hospitals.
Ex-Newcastle United manager Sir Bobby Robson, is backing the campaign.
Age Concern is worried about prejudice against older people who, it says, can be forced out of the workplace because of their age, refused interest-free credit, car insurance or new credit cards, and denied travel insurance.
Staff and volunteers at Age Concern Teesside will be giving away a campaign booklet, including a questionnaire.
