ART has gone on display in Durham Cathedral, produced by a craftswoman who lived in its shadow for 14 years.
Greta Hodgson, wife of the former Archdeacon of Auckland and Durham, the Venerable Derek Hodgson, has launched her exhibition, A Celebration of Cuthbert and the Cathedral.
The display features 27 of Mrs Hodgson's hand-made textile pieces on the theme of the Lindisfarne Gospels, St Cuthbert and the Northumbrian saint's tomb at the cathedral.
It coincides with the recent ninth centenary celebrations of Cuthbert's remains being "translated" into the shrine at the cathedral which was built in his honour.
Mrs Hodgson, of Barnard Castle, County Durham, has been a lifelong embroiderer and gained a City and Guilds qualification in 1996.
Although she has previously had work among larger displays at the cathedral, it is her first solo exhibition.
She is familiar with the cathedral because the couple lived in the nearby College until her husband's retirement in 1997. He is now emeritus archdeacon.
The exhibition, launched in the cathedral's Undercroft Restaurant on Friday, remains on show during restaurant opening hours for the next three weeks.
