A MAGISTRATES' court opened its doors to more than 400 visitors at the weekend to show families how the justice system is carried out.
Youngsters from Vane Road Primary School, in Newton Aycliffe, took part in a mock trial at Sedgefield Magistrates' Court, in the town on Saturday.
They took part in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, which acted out the trial of someone who was accused of theft.
Visitors to the town centre courts were also able to have a look around the cells and a police escort van, as well as seeing Darlington Fire and Rescue showing the dangers of chip pan fires and meeting dogs and dog handlers from Durham Police Constabulary.
Organiser Christine Wilson said: "We do this every year. Each year, it is in a different court.
"It has proved very popular and a lot of people have come to look around. It is definitely a worthwhile exercise.''
