A FIRM of auctioneers in Darlington sold more than 70 lots of Linthorpe Pottery at a recent sale.
Thomas Watson and Son sold the pottery on behalf of a local collector and advertised on the Internet, which gave buyers the opportunity to view and bid for the pottery without leaving their homes.
Most items at least doubled their estimates. The top lots were a flask vase, which sold for £600, a circular plaque (£580) and a tapered neck case (£500). The furniture section was led by a George III oak longcase clock, signed by Wm Post, London Bridge, which sold for £2,100, followed by a George III mahogany wine cooler that sold for £1,450.
