BABY Ella Bryce Vickers maintained an unusual family tradition when she was christened.
The ceremony in the Tunstall Chapel was one of the few to take place at the castle, in Durham City.
But the event maintained a strong family link with the castle, home to Durham University's University College.
Ella's parents Jane and Neil, who live at Framwellgate Moor, were married in the castle almost 12 years ago to the day and Mrs Vickers was also christened there.
Mrs Vickers' parents Sheila and Alan Morris also tied the knot in the castle, where Mrs Morris' father, Joseph Bryce, worked for University College for 40 years.
Mrs Morris said: "The family has had a long involvement with the castle and when we wrote to the master, who had been a student while my father worked there, he said that it was unique.''
