VOLUNTEERS are appealing for help as they aim to give youth club facilities a much-needed makeover.
A group of young jobseekers from across Derwentside plans to revamp a disused room at the YMCA, in Parliament Street, Consett.
The transformed room will be used by the YMCA youth club to expand its activities programme.
The group is taking part in the Prince's Trust Team Challenge, a 12-week course for people aged 16 to 25, aimed at boosting skills needed in the world of work, such as teamwork and problem solving.
Course leader Helen Daglish said: "The room desperately needs doing up. It has not been used for a long time and needs everything from doors to lights and flooring."
Group members are appealing for help from businesses, either donations of materials such as flooring, paint, doors and windows, or help from specialists such as joiners, painters and decorators.
Anyone wanting to help can contact Mrs Daglish on (01207) 502680
