AN ORGANIC beer has been developed to celebrate the second anniversary of Pinchinthorpe Hall's Farmers' Markets.
The hall's own organic micro-brewery, the North Yorkshire Brewing Company, has produced the special blend, called The Farmer's Tipple, which will go on sale at the market on Sunday, October 3.
The brew will only be available at the markets, held in the grounds of Pinchinthorpe Hall, Pinchinthorpe, Guisborough, on the first Sunday in the month.
The market has come a long way since its launch in October, 2002, when it had only ten stalls.
Today, as many as 25 farmers and producers sell produce at the market and there are overflow car parking facilities for more than 80 cars, thanks to some help from the Government.
In February 2003, the Pinchinthorpe Farmers' Market was one of the first to be awarded accreditation by the National Association of Farmers' Markets.
Anne Wood, the market co-ordinator, said: "Stall holders are local farmers or small producers and there are no commercial trade stands.
"That is what makes a farmers' market rather special.
"Although markets have been in existence for centuries, these kinds of markets are relatively new, the first being held in 1997 in Bath."
On Sunday, there will be entertainment by Dogwatch, a local folk group.
Proceeds from their show will go to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
The Brewhouse Bistro at the hall will be offering refreshments and Sunday lunches.
