IF new mother Sarah Roper needs a babysitter, she has plenty of options.
Her six-week-old daughter Hannah can look forward to birthday and Christmas presents from a grandmother, a great-grandmother and even a great-great-grandmother.
The eldest of the five generations of women in the family is Amy Nottingham, 87, of Leyburn, North Yorkshire. Her daughter is Elizabeth Thompson, 66, of Stanhope, County Durham.
Sarah's mother and Hannah's grandmother, Dawn Roper, 43, of Leyburn Road, Middleham, said: "There always seems to be about 20 years between us.
"Five generations must be very unusual, but when they are all girls, I think it's very special.
"I was thrilled to bits it was a girl, but I think my husband would have preferred a boy."
