A celebration of apples is to be held on Saturday.
Many varieties of eating and coooking apples will be on sale at a farmers' market and parish church autumn fair, to be held at the same time in Barnard Castle.
Pies, tarts, cakes and drinks made with apples will be on sale on the market stalls and at the fair in the nearby parish hall.
Experts will give advice on how to grow, store and preserve different types of the fruit, and there will be a competition with prizes for the best recipes using them.
The vicar, the Reverend Alec Harding, said: "We will also have a number of games involving apples, so we should all have a lot of fun. This theme seems to be causing quite a lot of interest."
The fair, which runs from 10am to 3pm, will feature tours of the church tower, a scarecrow-making competition and ploughman's lunches as well as book, plant and bottle stalls.
