A PET owner has offered a £1,000 reward for information after callous intruders hanged his cat.
Billy Mason, of Redmarshall, near Stockton, has offered the reward in hope of catching whoever killed 17-year-old Ninja.
The intruders also poured creosote around the bungalow causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
Mr Mason said: "What sort of people could do this? Ninja was part of the family and a bundle of fun."
The Masons were on holiday in Cyprus when the incident happened. A neighbour found the cat hanged from a wardrobe door in the couple's bedroom, while creosote had been thrown over the walls, floors and newly-fitted kitchen.
Nothing was taken during the break-in and anyone with information is asked to contact Stockton police, on (01642) 302237.
