Lovers of TV soaps will recognise several faces in this enjoyable farce, written by actor and playwright Derek Benfield.
The plot, as always, is one of misunderstandings and mistaken identities. Shirley decides to give her friend Jane the opportunity for a quiet dinner with her prospective toyboy Mark. Husband Gilbert is abroad and it's aerobics night for Shirley, so the coast is clear for a romantic assignation at Shirley and Gilbert's country house.
But surprise, surprise - nothing goes according to plan. Gilbert returns home unexpectedly with a glamorous air hostess, Jane's husband Roger turns up clutching a bunch of flowers, and a thick fog descends. Everyone is stranded and has to spend the night - but who will end up with whom?
An experienced and relaxed cast is led by the engaging Ross Davidson, who provided the biggest laugh of the evening with his wordless reaction at being caught in a trenchcoat but no trousers.
Shane Connor as Gilbert does a nice line in baffled disbelief at developments while he struggles to provide a reasonable explanation for air hostess Helga (Ann Marie Davies) running about in a silk slip.
Nicola Marsland and Jacqueline Roberts as the two wives, with Martino Lazzeri as tanned and toned object of lust Mark, complete a likeable and amusing company.
