Middlesbrough chief executive Keith Lamb blamed the Banik Ostrava supporters for the crowd disturbance at the Bazaly Stadium last night, writes Paul Fraser.
Fans clashed in the home section of the ground prior to the UEFA Cup tie after thousands of Boro supporters bought cheap tickets.
There was no trouble for the 900 official Middlesbrough fans on the trip but a UEFA inquiry will be launched to find out who was to blame.
Lamb said: "I'm very disappointed and hope there are no serious injuries among our supporters.
"We were concerned about it before the game but the desire of Boro fans to come and see us was so great that they risked going in desegregated area.
"We did everything possible with regard to the 900 tickets we had control of.
''But a lot of tickets made their way into the hands of Middlesbrough fans through the black market. That's a matter for Banik Ostrava and UEFA. "Most of the trouble was caused by the Ostrava fans. We did everything in our power to ensure the fans in the Boro closure were safe."
