THE sounds of the medieval age will be brought to life at Brancepeth Castle next month.
The Daughters of Elvin, from Dartmoor, Devon, who play instruments from the period, including the dulcimer and hurdy-gurdy, will perform in the castle's great hall at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 9.
The concert is a rare chance to see inside the castle which is privately owned and not normally open to the public.
Owner Margaret Dobson said: "I am very pleased that the Daughters of Elvin will be playing here. It will be exciting to get the chance to see something so colourful and out of the ordinary."
The musicians will also give a workshop on singing Italian medieval music at 2.30pm on the same day.
Concert tickets cost £6 and £8 and the workshop costs £5. To book a place, call 0191-378 2988.
